Poptastic @ Manchester.

I am rather sad that Pop is falling off my radar these days, as it was an addiction I truly relished in the first year of university; in the first term, I went every single Tuesday without fail. A rare breed of club, in which the gays, lesbians, straights, transgenders, asexuels etc. equal each other in numbers, Poptastic is just a room where one goes to have ludicrous fun. For the sake of my self-image (and your eyes, dear followers), I’ve picked a more tame photo featuring Olivia, Steven and (a very drunk) I…but there has been many a night far worse than this, with photos that should be burned.

Fact: the best night I’ve ever had in a club was in Poptastic; the heat generated by the sheer number of people in the underground den caused the fire alarm to go off, setting off the sprinklers. To quell the panic/confusion of us drunk lot, the DJ did the one sensible thing every DJ should ever do when faced with this issue: he threw on Kylie Minogue’s “All The Lovers”, people stripped themselves of their wet shirts, and a very real, very wet, very drunk reenactment of the music video’s Pyramid Orgy took place. Glorious times.
