With an infectious warbling bassline that seems to warn the listener that Kylie is about to take the game to another level, “Timebomb” has hit written all over it. Juxtaposing a hypnotic beat with a catchy chorus and anthemic hooks, “Timebomb” is a certified chart topper. The single is not only one of the strongest of Kylie’s impeccable career, but the mesmerizing electro pop track is one of the best singles to emerge this year.
Kylie has always released superior pop music, but with “Timebomb” Kylie has found new momentum and proves she isn’t slowing down any time soon. No telling where she will take us next, but I will gladly go along for the ride.
Kylie Minogue’s “Timebomb” | Review by AllureOfSound (28.05.12)
JESUS. Alright, have you watched it now? Gents, you alright? Recovered? Can you stand up again?
Kylie, Soho, Chinatown, underground raves, car chases, motorcycle acrobatics…and a final sixty seconds that may as well be the most glamorous striptease on Planet Electro-Pop? Excuse me, I need a moment.
KYLIE IS BACK.
Make no mistake: this is a massive club banger, with a video to match. The direction is sublime, as is the editing, feeling both fresh and incredibly sexy, yet retaining that Kylie charm that ensures it never veers into ‘dirty’ territory. And should we mention how, at nearly forty-four, just damn unbelievable Kylie Minogue looks?
Leather jacket, denim hotpants, thatbody, and all writhing around on a motorcycle; I confess Tumblr, if I had ovaries, they would be blown.
Kylie, it has been too long. Welcome back.
“Time Bomb” is available to purchase now on iTunes.

“My dad always asks me if I’m gonna sing ‘Tears On My Pillow’. It’s one of his favourites, and usually I can’t because, well, y’know. Couldn’t have exactly done that one with GLADIATORS, could I? But, hey, now I can for you; but whenever I sing this, I’m always singing it for him.”

Earlier in the Gig: “As you all know, my best friend, Willy, is from here; and tonight he’s out on the town somewhere, dancing his ass off. He didn’t quite know what to do with himself, because, well, no costume changes! Haha!”
Later in the Gig: COTUME CHANGE! “Manchester, you are HOT!!”
"Set over a dense beat and bass line with the sort of commanding effect that made Little Boots’ “Shake” so irresistible, “Time Bomb” is exactly the kind of hushed, medium-intensity dance track that Minogue has always done so well. Her characteristic mix of melody and whisper gives the number a sense of cunning and mystique, and it’s exactly the kind of song Minogue can pull off as she climbs higher into her forties yet declines to lapse into insecurity or irrelevance in this ageist industry. Her spunky “ooh oohs” furthers a Luciana resemblance, which is a solid realm to inhabit for this seemingly ageless member of dance-pop royalty. Perhaps it’s a wink to her age releasing a song called “Time Bomb” to mark her 44th birthday, but winking is what Kylie Minogue does best, after all."

“Jeez Manchester, do I even need to sing?! Haha! Do you know how many songs I have? I had to pull some of these lyrics up on GOOGLE for you. In fact, I’m not sure I even know what key this is in…”

“Y’know, back when I was ill…”
(*crowd “awwhhs”, before rapturous celebratory applause*)
“Thank you, thank you! It was a bad time, a bad time, but after it, I got to wondering about life and us and all our places in this…this crazy, crazy world…and this is one of the songs I wrote about that. This is ‘Stars’.”

“Manchester, you and I go waaaaaay back. How many times have I played here? There’s the big one, the M.E.N. Arena, a couple of times, yeah? Oh, and the Apollo! God, that was a while ago eh? A-And…what was that club? With the pillar? That big, BIG pillar in the centre of the stage? Yeah, that’s it! “ESSENTIAL”! Man, that pillar! I freakin’ worked that thing!”
